

Yaser Arafat, the late leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), became one of the main negotiators for what is termed Palestinian rights. He was the Palestinian at the camp David meetings with President Carter and then President Clinton. He helped negotiate the Oslo accords. He also never supported any of the initiatives he was involved in. He was a terrorist having begun the terror attacks in Isreal in the ‘60s and expanded them around the world. After Camp Davis he was seen as a “reformed terrorist” he was feted as now being dedicated to peace. Nothing could be further from the truth as he never intended to live in peace with Isreal or the west. His aim was to eventually eliminate the Jewish state and replace it with Palestine.
Today the West is once again accepting a terrorist as a peaceful leader. Ahmed al-Sharaa who became the president of Syrian in 2025 was a terrorist leader of AL-Nusra and HST, an offshoot of al-Qaeda. While a Sunni extremist group which opposes Shi’a Iran it also expands on the desire to eliminate Israel. Today he has cut his hair and wears a western style suit. Like Arafat he is trying to rebrand himself as a political leader, interested only in leading his country.
Since taking over al-Sharaa has attacked the Alawite community, the Druze and Christian communities and is currently attacking the Kurdish City of Aleppo. All the while continuing to talk peace with the West. Just like Arafat. The West must not fall for this again. We must reinstitute economic sanctions, increase our military presence and move to separate the Syrian forces from the Syrian Democratic Forces which have established a semi-autonomous region in Northwest Syria.
